Late January Azerbaijan received the latest series of their Mi-35M ordered from Russia. Delivery of the twenty-four Mi-35M combat helicopters is part of one of the major weapons contracts concluded between Baku and Moscow between 2010 and 2011.
The helicopters are equipped with the full panoply of weapons: antitank missiles, unguided rockets, a machinegun, night vision equipment and a thermal camera. A flight simulator was also provided to facilitate pilot training. The Mi-35M complements the Mi-24 Hind, already in service within the Azeri army.
