The naval exercise RIMPAC 2014

 

The 24th edition of the RIMPAC 2014 exercise takes place from
the 26th of June till the 1st of August 2014.

     The RIMPAC exercise, Rim of the Pacific, is the biggest naval exercise in the world. It took place in the regions bordering Hawaii and near Pearl Harbor between the 26 June and the 1 August 2014. The edition for 2014 saw participation from 47 ships, 6 submarines and more than 200 aircraft from 22 different countries. About 25,000 military personnel took part in the exercise.

     The main objectives of the exercise were for the reinforcement of interoperation capabilities between the different naval forces, ameliorate operational preparation levels and the reinforcement of the different inter-army partners.

     The exercise took place in three different phases; the port phase, integration of different forces training phase and the free-action phase. Amongst the missions executed were: open water interception, anti-air defense, amphibious debarkation, anti-submarine, naval combat, demining, live fire and search and rescue in open water.
