The Il-78 (Midas – NATO code) is a Russian aerial refueling aircraft. It was developed in the Soviet Union during the 80’s by Ilyushin. The first flight took place 26 June 1983. The Il-78 entered service in 1985.
The Il-78 based on the transport aircraft Ilyushin Il-76MD (Candid-B – NATO code).
