Since the 14th of May 2014 the Swiss Army has a new support bridge. It was designed to replace the old system “Fixed bridge 69″ now obsolete. Sixteen hardware deck modules and twenty-four vehicle laying modules were acquired for 259 million Swiss francs ($ 287 million).

The new bridge system can be deployed in 90 minutes by a team of eight soldiers. Swiss engineering units have begun training with this system. In the event of natural disasters such as floods and landslides, populations will see this type of equipment in operation to restore lines of communication.
